Zoning, preliminary, and final development plan approvals are approved for the new site.

Project paused due to COVID-19 pandemic.

2021-2022

Board of Directors launches a forward-thinking strategic planning process to define the future of the American Royal. A new Strategic Plan is approved including a fresh mission, vision, and purpose. This update re-centers the project and the facility needs of the future American Royal. A new design is presented.

2023

Final Development Plan approved for updated design. Barn Raising event takes place to announce groundbreaking..


2025

Project paused while awaiting STAR Bond process and updated Development Agreement.

May 2025: Wyandotte Commission unanimously approved the creation of an American Royal Community Improvement District (CID).

December 2025: Revised development agreement is approved by the Unified Government Board of Commissioners.

March 2026: First tranche of STAR Bonds closes.

April 2026: Construction resumed on the Barns & Exhibition Hall

September 2026: Four cornerstone American Royal events set to take place in the completed Barns & Exhibition Hall.
